Hello everyone, I am a researcher and I deal with 3D modeling in the biomedical context.
I am very interested in 3D technologies that allow to obtain realistic simulations of surgical interventions and, more generally, in the application of 3D to medicine.
I am fascinated by SOFA, by its potential and by the work that I seen on youtube channel.
In particular I was very impressed by this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fH_RD3p4vMMI would like to start applying SOFA to the augmented reality of minimally invasive surgery but I’m completely new to this software and I’m not sure where to start from.
I tried to watch the step-by-step video tutorial but I would need something clearer to get started. I’m not an engineer and I’m not able to write code: I don’t know programming languages. Is this a problem?
Is there a guide? Are there a series of step by step tutorials of sample projects? Who can help me? Thanks See you soon Luca

Thank you very much for your interest in SOFA and in physics simulation for medicine.
This is not an easy topic, since simulation mixes numerical methods, math, computational mechanics and computer science. The SOFA consortium proposes SOFA training sessions as a service if you need it.The tutorials in SOFA are indeed basics and need to be (constantly) improved. However, as you can guess, with such a large open-source project, there is plenty of priorities and hot topics to work on. Do not hesitate to have a look at the online documentation. The Get Started should help with some basics.
