As The paper(in title) says:
“The simulation model is based on Signorini’s and Coulomb’s laws that are solved using the constraint-based process described in Duriez et al. (2005) and optimized for catheter navigation in Duriez et al. (2006). ”
But neither the 2005 or the 2006 paper has solve the “Coulomb’s law”(means object are frictionless). How is that? Was I missed something?

Both cited papers rely on the work entitled “A Gauss-Seidel like algorithm to solve frictional contact problems” involving contact with frictions based on Signorini’s and Coulomb’s laws.

There is only one place related to firction in the paper(Duriez et al,2006). I can’t see where it implements the coulomb’s law. There is only signorini’s law. Am I miss something important?
The paper describes the Signorini’s law in details. The Coulomb’s law is known for years, the theory and its resolution are given in the paper mentioned in my previous post. Finally, its implementation is in SOFA.
What else would you expect?
What do you actually intend to do with SOFA? Are you stuck any how in your use or implementation?
I think SOFA is a good tool and also a great community to study FEM.
And I want to learn deeply, so I often ask questions about papers just for real understanding.

Discussion papers can be interesting when it helps people to better understand the framework itself.
