Home › Forum › SOFA › Programming with SOFA › How to integrate the new FEM methods into SOFA engine
Dear SOFA community,
I want to test the performance of some improved finite element methods through sofa engine, such as the open source Hyper-Elastic Mass Links method(https://github.com/HEML/HEML). I wonder if there is any way to integrate these methods into SOFA engine. Is there a corresponding example for reference.
Thank you very much!
With best regards,
Zhengyang Chen
Dear @xmfuwu1
It’s a nice initiative!
As a new mechanical model, it should be implemented as a forcefield in SOFA. We could definitely guide you for the implementation.
Let me know whether you are interested, we could chat about this further together.
Best wishes,
Hugo
Dear @Hugo,
Thank you for your reply! I am very interested in this subject. But I am new to SOFA. I have no idea how to implement this new method on SOFA. I do not know where to start. Is there any relevant code for reference?
Thank you very much!
With best regards,
Zhengyang Chen
Dear @xmfuwu1
Have you checked my above link?
To understand at best SOFA, I advise:
– to watch our Tutorials on YouTube, especially this recording of one of our training session “Introduction to SOFA”
– follow the online documentation
If you are interested, and once you covered these materials, I would be glad to chat with you and guide you for the implementation part. Would this be of interest for you?
Best,
Hugo
