Tagged: 64_bits, Linux Omni drivers, Linux_ubuntu, SOFA_1608
Dear Sofa users,
I would like to inquire as to whether the instructions on the SOFA online documentation on Sensable Omni drivers, Installing the Sensable Plugin, are still valid. Apparently one has to register on 3DSystems Haptics Forum in order to get a copy of the downloads, but I have done so today as well as clicked on Resend activation email, and I have yet to receive an email, 2 hours later. Moreover, the website does not expose a contact name unless one registers, adding to the Kafkaesque experience.
Can anyone comment as to whether this still works? Is it possible in fact to use SOFA on Linux with an Omni currently?
Best wishes,
Michel
Hi Michel,
Sensable plugin is not maintained anymore. We advise you to use the Geomagic plugin instead (included in SOFA repository).
The documentation has not been updated yet but it is basically the same as Sensable.
To download Geomagic drivers, try these urls:
Windows: https://3dsystems.teamplatform.com/pages/102774?t=r4nk8zvqwa91
Linux: https://3dsystems.teamplatform.com/pages/102863?t=fptvcy2zbkcc
Hope this helps,
Guillaume.
Dear Guillaume,
thanks for your kind, tremendous support. I will start with the links that you have provided and proceed accordingly. I will certainly follow up with comments and questions either way.
Warm wishes,
Michel
