I have a working scene with coarse model that I am using for mechanical modeling. Additionally I have mapped a much prettier visual model and everything works well.
However I as I expand my model to use the SofaCarving module. My question is what can I do to visualize this?
My tests seem to indicate that if I map a visual model and remove elements it seems to lose its place with respect to the mechanical model. So that instead I must visualize the mechanical model itself via Tetra2TriangleTopologicalMapping. If I do this with my current mesh it is coarse and ugly. But if I refine the mesh it becomes slow. Is the some other method I should be using? Or is this a problem inherent to removing mesh elements?
Dear Ben,
Indeed the most straightforward way is to directly display the mechanical object and not the visual. However, as you notice, this will imply strong performance constraints (fine mesh –> poor performances).
I will discuss this with researchers working on the topological changes in SOFA and maybe put them in contact with you. I come back to you as soon as possible.
Best,
Hugo
