Hi,
In SofaCarving plugin scenes-examples, I see that only “Identity Mapping” is used for mapping the Visual Model and the carving surface. Is there a way to map the carving surface with a more detailed visual model?
Thank you,
Harris
Hi @hkomninos
Indeed mappings create correspondences between representations (e.g. between the mechanical and the collision model). You can find a doc page on Mapping.
You can indeed use different meshes for both representations and use the BarycentricMapping instead of the Identity one.

Hi Hugo,
Thank you for your answers.I know about mappings and I have already used some types of them. However,I asked for the case of Sofacarving in which triangles are removed and topology changes.I tried to just use BarycentricMapping instead of IdentityMapping but it doesn not work properly.Could you help me?
Best,
Hugo
Could you share with us your scene?
The SofaCarving plugin has been recently updated and it is still in progress. And I know there is still things to improve in the mapping when topological changes occur.
If you faced one of these bug case, this need to be investigated and fixed. You can already take a look.
