Software Engineer position in the SOFA team

A consortium is starting around SOFA. The first position of software engineer in the context of this consortium is now open!

Your mission would be to guide the development of the consortium by providing support to the members of the consortium and to the SOFA community. Other tasks are planed such as answering the user forum, the developer mailing-list and participating to the community events. Tutorials and documentation of the framework should be improved. A “store” should be developed on the SOFA website to highlight the main SOFA modules. Autonomy and curiosity will be a key quality for this position.

Are remote positions available?

The SOFA community is made of SMEs, companies, universities and research centers. Job offers posted online are onsite positions for now. I guess it might depend on the institution. The only engineers working remotely are independent developers.
However, do not hesitate to contact any institution if one is of interest to ask about such remote position.

Our project is mainly C++ oriented. Therefore we are looking for C++/CMake/Qt devs and the best is to have good backgrounds in computational mechanics and numerical analysis in order to cover the basis of SOFA.
I am afraid Java, Flutter and Swift would not be of key interest for us know, but thank you for your interest and for posting.

Thank you for your proposal. We are a non-profit initiative. Our staff is funded thanks to the support of our consortium partners and our donors, while the project developers are in companies and research institutes of the community. Such offshore dev is therefore not of interest for us.
